Le Roi Music Hall

The owner Attilio Lutrario had the cinema built and it was inaugurated in June 1951. In 1959, architect Carlo Mollino designed the interior of the dance hall that occupied the space below the sloping stalls. The cinema closed but the dance hall, in the meantime called Le Roi, still continues its activities with the original furnishings designed by Mollino and recently restored.

A masterpiece by Carlo Mollino, preserved to this day thanks to the dedication of Attilio Lutrario, son of the impresario who inaugurated this dance hall, located beneath the well-known Lutrario cinema, during the years of Torino's dolce vita. While the cinema has since closed, the dance hall — now called Le Roi —continues its activities with Mollino’s original furnishings, recently restored.

Le Roi is a vortex that unfolds from the entrance, winding along the spiral profile of the balustrades, culminating in a constellation of multicoloured lamps. The space is an organic composition of references to the natural world, from the flower-studded mosaic floor to the faux rock stage.
